>>>STREET FIGHT: Paul Mitchell Pulls No Punches Battling Road Tax Package In WMP Interview

In a press release, Paul Mitchell's "Coalition Against Higher Taxes and Special Interest Deals" has announced they were hiring Scott Hagerstrom, formerly of AFP.

WMP broke the news of Hagerstrom's unexpected departure last week.

Paul Mitchell said:

“Scott Hagerstrom brings a great deal of knowledge and insight to the table. His experience in grassroots organizing and strategic outreach skills are an invaluable asset to our Coalition. We know that Lansing special interests have a multi million dollar warchest ready to raise our taxes. We want to educate voters that almost 40% of the $2 billion raised will not go to roads, but instead go to special interest deals.”

Hagerstrom, who will serve as the Director of Grassroots and Strategic Engagement said, “The last thing Michigan residents need are higher sales, gas and registration taxes costing us $2 billion so special interests can profit off of our hard work. I am pleased to continue working to protect Michigan taxpayers from Lansing big spenders.”

The release continues:

"Hagerstrom will be focused on grassroots organizing, strategic outreach and messaging for the Coalition and will also assist in raising money for this committee to oppose Proposal 1.

Mitchell said, “In just 3 weeks, over 100,000 Michigan Taxpayers have already reached out to us at www.SayNoToHigherTaxes.org and via social media. Adding Scott to our team will help the Coalition turn these passionate supporters into mobilized voters. We intend to use a unique blend of traditional media efforts and a strong grassroots organization to combat the Lansing special interests.”

Scott Hagerstrom has 25 years experience in fighting for economic liberty including 15 years working in the Michigan House of Representatives and most recently nearly 7 years directing the activities of Americans For Prosperity. Under his leadership Americans For Prosperity grew from a few thousand to over 100,000 Michigan activists. Scott, a life long Michigan resident, is a graduate of Michigan State University and Cooley Law School; and has four kids age 9 through 17."
