After many expressed concerns over perceived insensitivity regarding a Muslim based "Ramadan Unity" dinner, Lansing area Mayors have announced they will change the date.
Originally planned for the 14th anniversary of 9/11 was a Ramadan dinner that has been held annually by the Mayors of Lansing and East Lansing since 2007.
In a release this morning, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and East Lansing Mayor Nathan Triplett announced it will now be the following Friday, September 18:
