Despite a desperate attempt to smear her with a false flag email pretending to be Norm Hughes, Kim Shmina prevailed Saturday in the race to decide the Republican nominee for the Wayne State Board Of Governors. In the most watched election of the convention, former State Rep. Tom McMillin and conservative activist and teacher Nikki Snyder won the nominations for State Board of Education.
According to Chad Livengood of the Detroit News:
"Only the races for the Wayne State board and the State Board of Education were contested.
For Wayne State University’s two open seats, Republicans nominated Troy plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Busuito and Kim Shmina, a nurser practitioner from Fair Haven and former Wayne State nursing instructor. Busuito lost a 2014 race for the Wayne State board by 4,962 votes..
In a six-way race for two spots on the ballot for the State Board of Education, former state Rep. Tom McMillin of Rochester Hills and Whitmore Lake GOP activist Nicolette Snyder prevailed.
In accepting the GOP nomination, McMillin stressed the need for party unity in order for Republicans like himself to prevail."
Snyder was the top vote-getter...
Who was the establishment favorite again? Seems he had like 50 signs in our little caucus room Friday night. But he never spoke.
ReplyDeleteThe Michigan Republican Party state delegates deserve all the credit for nominating a proven conservative in Tom McMillin. This is a huge step forward following the defeat of Nakagiri by Calley in August 2014 and the Hughes loss to Ronna in February 2015. Grassroots Republicans are doing the hard work necessary to keep conservatism and liberty alive and well in the GOP. Let's hope that endorsements from unflinching conservative groups like the Republican Liberty Caucus of Michigan will continue to resonate with the grassroots, instead of the same old tired establishment mantra. Congrats to MIGOP and Tom McMillin!
