A vote was expected in the Michigan House as early as Tuesday on a road funding plan, but the votes just aren't there for Speaker Cotter.to pass the Senate's #MeekhofGasTax, nor a "compromise" bill with parts of road plans from both chambers.

Words legislators have used to describe the plans include"horrible," terrible," and "horrendous." House Leadership is allegedly pushing a narrative that if Republicans don't capitulate to the Senate plan and the gas tax increase, or some sort of "compromise" bill, the Republicans will lose their majority in 2016...

According to MIRS:

"House Republicans were presented with a potential compromise between the House and Senate road funding plan today, but following a whip count on the plan, it failed to get anything close to the needed 56 votes to pass the House, sources tell MIRS."

Stay tuned...

  1. There are already multiple alternatives to Meekhof's little shakedown that DO NOT involve raising taxes of any kind.
    .
All that is required for them to be implemented are politicians who aren't beholden to special interests (like we currently have in the Michigan Senate), who stand to gain by perpetuating the status quo.
