As others have alluded to, if the horrendous Prop 1 campaign were a horror movie, spoiler alert: Paul Mitchell is the "killer." Now Mitchell wants to take those conservative values to Washington D.C. Paul Mitchell announced in a press release this morning he is running for Congress to replace a retiring Candice Miller in Michigan's 10th Congressional District.

Mitchell, a retired businessman, led the campaign to defeat Prop 1 and was extremely successful. Mitchell's leadership was crucial in beating the Lansing machine by a record 60 point margin, 80%-20%, the biggest defeat for a proposal in Michigan history. Mitchell isn't messing around, either. He has already hired operatives of Miller's to run his campaign

In an interview with WMP before Prop 1, Mitchell said he learned a lot from his previous Congressional campaign, and Prop 1 proved Mitchell correct.

""Losing kind of sucks," Mitchell told WMP when asked what he learned because of his heated Congressional race against now Congressman John Moolenaar.

"I learned how difficult it is to overcome the power of the political establishment. We didn't 'feel their wrath,' but we definitely did not get the support... The campaign taught me some things about how to communicate issues better."

Read the announcement below, and stay tuned for a lot more on Mitchell and this race soon...It's gonna be a good one!

"Conservative job-creator Paul Mitchell announced his campaign for 10th Congressional District at his farm to friends, family, and supporters. Earlier this year, Paul Mitchell led a grassroots effort to defeat Proposal 1, the largest proposed Michigan tax increase in the last 50 years. Mitchell vowed to bring the same conservative principles and effort to his campaign for Congress.
“I will take the same conservative values that crushed Proposal 1 to Washington,” stated Paul Mitchell. “I believe in the American dream because I have lived it. Today that dream is slipping away for too many in our nation. By bringing our shared conservative principles to Washington, we can work to secure that dream for our children and grandchildren.”

Paul Mitchell is the former CEO and owner of Ross Education. Paul oversaw the relocation of the executive headquarters to St. Clair. At Ross, Paul led a school group that provided education and skills-training to 6,000 students annually at 19 campuses. Ross became a national leader in providing workforce services for dislocated workers and long-term public assistance recipients throughout the nation that were critical to the success of the welfare to work program.

“I believe in common-sense conservative leadership. Say what you mean and do what you say. Too many politicians mostly talk, but fail to deliver tangible results,” stated Paul Mitchell. “We need genuine, sincere conservative leadership in Macomb County and Michigan’s Thumb, the kind of leadership delivered by Candice Miller for the last 12 1⁄2 years. I look forward to speaking with and listening to the voters of this district because I believe strongly that first you must listen to effectively lead. That discussion and this campaign begin today.”

The release also says:

Paul Mitchell and his wife Sherry reside in Dryden Township in Lapeer County and have 6 children. Paul Mitchell also announced that Jamie Roe will be joining the campaign as General Consultant. Roe served as Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Candice Miller for the last 12 1⁄2 years and previously served as campaign manager for her successful campaign for Congress in 2002 and her re-election campaign for Secretary of State in 1998. Don Brown, Macomb County Commissioner and former Deputy District Director for Rep. Candice Miller for the last 12 1/2 years, will be joining the Mitchell campaign as Campaign Manager.

“Paul Mitchell’s common-sense conservative leadership along with his record of job creation in the 10th District will make him a strong voice for the people,” stated Jamie Roe, Macomb Township resident. “I am proud to join his team and look forward to working with him as we build a top flight campaign that is worthy of the people of the 10th District and is focused on the critical issues facing our district, our state and this great nation.”

“I have served the people of Macomb County for years and know a strong leader when I see one. We need a strong, principled leader to deal with issues involving national security and the economy. The way Paul Mitchell deals with issues straight on like he dealt with Proposal 1 is why Paul Mitchell is the right choice for our district,” stated Don Brown, Washington Township resident."
