State Sen. Tom Casperson touted the support of Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof and Rep. Bill Huizenga today as retired 3 star General Jack Bergman blasted Casperson and former State Sen. Jason Allen for what he says are lies about his views on gun rights.

"I trust Tom Casperson," Meekhof said in a statement. "He has been a tremendous asset to our state through his service in the Michigan House of Representatives and Michigan Senate. Tom is an honest and honorable man--and we need more people like him in Congress. If you live in the 1st District, please vote Tom Casperson for Congress tomorrow!"

Casperson and Allen spent the day attacking Bergman for an alleged gun rights fail. Bergman fired back.

"Career politicians will say anything, especially when they’re losing," Bergman said. "That’s why the two political insiders running against Jack Bergman are lying about his views on gun rights. Jack served in the United States Marine Corps for 40 years. Have you ever met a Marine who opposes the right to own a gun? Of course not. Jack Bergman is a gun owner who’s dedicated his life protecting our Bill of Rights.

The NRA gave him an A-rating after asking him questions about his views. These last-second lies being proffered by career politicians Tom Casperson and Jason Allen are shameful. If you want to ensure your right to bear arms is protected, send a Marine to Washington. Defending the Constitution is what they do. Here is the link to the NRA. https://www.nrapvf.org/grades/Michigan/"

Bergman says the NRA has not changed his "A" rating...
