Controversial former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is disrupting the Dem narrative on the Flint Water scandal. In a letter from federal prison, Kilpatrick says that Governor Jennifer Granholm knew of significant problems with water issues in Flint and did absolutely nothing about it.
According to WXYZ:
"From behind bars, former disgraced Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is taking to social media with comments on the Flint water crisis.
Kilpatrick is expressing outrage from inside a federal prison. It came in a lengthy Facebook message from family members on his behalf.
According to the letter, Kilpatrick said he knew about the issues with the Flint water system back in 2004, despite the city being with the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department until 2014.
He also said he wasn't the only one with knowledge of the issues in Flint.
"Former Michigan Governor, Jennifer Granholm, was well aware of the issues with the Flint Water Department, and their inability to produce contaminant free water moving forward, nor afford the equipment & technology to do so," he wrote."

We all know anybody from west Michigan are Republican tools who either make up or beleives outrageous tales.
ReplyDeleteLol... till you need your government welfare check Republicans pay for, cause your to lazy to work to support yourself.
DeleteMaybe that's why west Michigan is so much more prosperous then the east
ReplyDeleteYup
DeleteSo the epitome of integrity, Kwame, is reporting from Federal prison that Governor Granholm knew the Flint River water was bad and she didn't take state control of the city and force them to switch to using Flint River water? Sounds like she did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteNeither did Snyder - do your research ....
DeleteNo one forced them. The previous mayor of Flint and the Flint city council voted to switch from the Detroit water system to save money before the emergency manager was in place. The emergency manager followed through with what was already approved by the mayor and city council.

DeleteIf you would have researched before your reply, you would've known that the mayor and city council had no authority to approve anything as the city was under the Governor appointed Emergency Manager at the time, so for you to say he just followed through on what was already approved lets me know that you haven't done any research on this matter at all. And they didn't vote before the Emergency Manager was in place either, they voted 7-1 to become part of the KWA pipeline that would bring water from Lake Huron right to Flint instead of getting it from Detroit. When they realized that they didn't have a back up plan as to what our water source was going to be the Emergency Manager chose the Flint River to save some money instead of negotiating with Detroit, and in the end it will cost over a billion dollars to get this fixed the right way. And Governor Snyder did know the Flint river shouldn't be used and we were having problems with it a couple of months after the switch took place when people started having health concerns and emails started going right to the governor. So both of you are not correct in your responses. I am part of a water group protesting and advocating for clean water for our city and we've been at this for almost 2 years so I know the facts. If you don't know what you're talking about or are giving your opinion, then state that it's your opinion so you don't get caught up quoting wrong and incorrect things
DeleteThis is hilarious. Like anyone should believe anything falling out of Kwame's mouth. This doesn't make the Dem's look bad at all. Snyder and his corrupt administration poisoned thousands. Michigan is run like a criminal enterprise. RICO charges should be forthcoming
ReplyDeleteWhat is hilarious is how some are trying to blame the Republican at the top, while forgetting that it was the Flint administration that had problems keeping the city afloat when the economy went bad, leading to the appointment of an emergency manager who signed off on the the mayor and council’s proposal to save money by switching to river water. Detroit then cancelled the 50 year contract, giving Flint one year to get ready. Just before Flint went to river water, Detroit offered the next emergency manager the option of using Detroit water until the pipeline was finished and turned it down. Then the Michigan DEQ and the Chicago office of the EPA did not warn the water department about the corrosion problem. So really, whose fault is all this? Who has come forward to take the heat? Don't even get me started about which of the above are Democrats and which are Republican.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, it was a lease, and Detroit didn't cut anyone off...the city leaders of Flint decided not to renew their contract with the city because of rate increases. The info presented to the EM had all the info, they agreed to go forward, based on test results including from the EPA. And people from bo the the EPA ( Federal level) and others from DEQ ( local State level) have resinged, and that will not protect them if there is proof that they were aware of the potential harm with their action ( or lack of).

DeleteDoes he hope this will fall under the Whistleblower Program and get his sentence shortened?
ReplyDeleteAll my family and friends lived in the Flint area for many many years. Luckily we got out before all this went down but I can assure you the city has been run so poorly that it defies description in every way imaginable. To blame someone just coming on the scene is absolutely ridiculous. This is a problem that has accumulated over decades of neglect abuse misuse and fraud. So much Graft and corruption it's unbelievable anyone who knows anything about flint could not possibly be surprised by this. The only surprise is that something more tragic and even more disastrous hasn't happened before now.
ReplyDeleteMaybe just maybe all the "Pure Michigan" monies would have been better spent to make Michigan pure or at least warn travelers coming into Michigan.

ReplyDeleteDemocrats go up the line till they find the first Republicsn to blame: then: Blaamy: he's the bad guy.. Snyder.
ReplyDeleteEmergency manager was a Denocrat.
Why not blame him? Hmmm?
Kwame spilling the beans to get even with Dems who ratted him out for corruption.
