Sources tell WMP that Jack McHugh, a top leader at the Mackinac Center, had strong words for State Rep. Triston Cole after Cole erroneously claimed the group had named him among the most conservative legislators in Lansing. In fact, MIRS had used one of the Center's resources to tabulate the results and they are the ones who designated Cole as one of the top conservatives...
Cole, who beat Michael Vickory in a close and heated primary after coming up short in a 2010 race, faces opposition from conservative activists in his district. They are upset with Cole for voting for the new gas tax-among other things-and they question his conservative cred.
Cole took to Facebook to defend himself, claiming he is a real conservative and as evidence of his anti-establishment actions, he said he may not even be able to move a single bill next year in retaliation for opposing Aric Nesbitt on legislation in 2015.
The exchange was seemingly deleted shortly after....
Also deleted was was a post from the Michigan House GOP touting Cole's selection.
