| The City Of Grand Haven's Human Relations Commission discusses making Grand Haven a "sanctuary city" for illegal immigrants Thursday night |

The City of Grand Haven took the first steps towards becoming a "sanctuary city" for illegal immigrants on Thursday night.
The issue was on the agenda at the Human Relations Commission meeting, and the HRC will soon make a recommendation to City Council on whether or not the city should become a safe haven for illegals.
Sanctuary status for GH would also put State and federal funding for the City of Grand Haven at risk with President Trump and Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall's recent orders.
Less than half a dozen people (including myself) were in attendance for Thursday's meeting, and no traditional media was present.
The best ways to help fight back against Grand Haven becoming a "sanctuary city" for illegals?
1. Follow the "Keep Grand Haven Safe" Facebook page for breaking updates.
2. Send an Email RIGHT NOW to all the Grand Haven City Council Members:

With a 50 year history of the spending summers visiting the beach and shoreline of Grand Haven's attractions, I will now have to find another location. If the foolish leadership feels it's important to attract "murder, rape, thievery, assault, and all forms of chaos that goes with it", then I suspect the safety of visitors, and your tax paying residents, is of no concern for the future...therefore loyalties will surely disappear, vacating an iconic Lake Michigan resort. So STUPID!!!

DeleteVacationed in GH in October with friends. Was astonished to see the amount of illegals Everywhere. The Walmart was all illegals and we felt very unsafe. We were the minority at that point being stared upon. Next day we went for lunch and shopping in downtown Holland - illegals trickling around while we were shopping. Thankfully law enforcement was around and attempted to gather the illegals pandering. We won’t be renting a VRBO in Grand Haven anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteIllegals in GH so many you are afraid?? I live here...and that's just not true. We do have migrant workers here at our farms and Blueberry farms but they have never been an issue. I am in no way in favor of making GH a sanctuary city...it will ruin our city in many ways...but don't make up a story about something that's not true.
Delete1) There was no talk about bringing this to city council. 2) Our law enforcement already does not help ice in any way nor do they ask immigration status 3) At the HRC meeting there was a discussion to see if members would like to discuss this further in the future 4) Brandon did not attend the HRC meeting or hear what was said. He did not ask questions or make any statements he came in, took a picture, and left but is stirring the pot and deceiving people to think he actually attended the meeting. Brandon didn’t you already get in trouble for lying and being deceitful…. Not a good look! There was merely a conversation about having a future conversation. GH essential does what a sanctuary city would do currently without being an official sanctuary city. People are so misinformed.
