For Fieger, Time's Almost Up

Fieger

There is still one person who could turn the Governor's race upside down: Detroit area attorney Geoffrey Fieger.

Fieger teased he was thinking about a run last spring, and the deadline to qualify for the ballot is now about 7 weeks away.

Fieger's announcement was billed as a publicity stunt by some, but one can never know with certitude what the "million dollar mouth" will do.

Fieger has about two weeks to make a final decision if he is still deciding one way or another, he would need to start gathering signatures no later than March 18th to be safe, even with multiple paid firms assisting in the effort.

Some point to Fieger's loss in 1998 and dismiss him as a threat, but that was a much different time. He was a first time candidate running against an incumbent. 2018's politics are much, much different.

We'll explore what a Fieger campaign might look like more next week, with a look back at some memorable moments from his 1998 campaign.

Whatever Fieger decides, it's a pretty safe bet he will hold a press conference to make the announcement. :)
