When asked for comment on the controversy surrounding State Senator Arlan Meekhof's heated attack on 90th District State House candidate Geoff Haveman, Ottawa County Democratic Party Chairman Doug Zylstra referred the Senator to Matthew 7:3. "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

Meekhof is clearly attacking Haveman because he is worried about the prospects of the candidate the Republican establishment has vehemently pushed, Daniela Garcia.

"They aren't attacking Kroll," Zylstra said. " But yeah, of course, if you think the other guy has got a good shot, (you attack.)"
Zylstra is also a County Commission candidate, giving Democrats the best chance in decades to take a County seat.
Meekhof's challenger, attorney Sarah Howard, had no comment at this time on the controversy.
