Lansing Establishment Wants Conservative Star Steve Johnson GONE: Here's The Woman They're Running Against Him

It's pretty fitting that State Rep. Steve Johnson has the same office phone number as Rep. Justin Amash, a former member of the Michigan House.

Johnson is a legislator in the mold of Amash in many ways: he almost always votes "no," he's a strict constitutionalist, and he explains every vote he takes on social media. (We'll have much more on Steve in the coming months.)

Johnson burst on to the political scene after he won his campaign in 2016 with less than $10,000-and a whole lot of door knocking.

Antel

Because of all that, it should not be a surprise to anyone that the establishment wants Johnson gone, and they have already lined up their hand picked choice.

Meet Jennifer Antel.

Antel is the Mayor Pro Tem in Wayland, and she has been on the Wayland City Council for over a decade. Antel is also a middle school track coach, and substitute teacher.

Antel is in it to win it, choosing Jason Watts, a veteran of Allegan County and 6th District politics, to help run her campaign.

Antel's website doesn't provide much policy-wise, but she says she wants more educational opportunity and fully funded roads, code words for "yes, I will raise your taxes and keep up the out of control spending in Lansing."
