Former Ambassador, MIGOP Chair, and prominent philanthropist Ron Weiser has announced he believes that he, along with the group seeking to repeal Michigan's prevailing wage law, has gathered enough signatures to submit them to the Secretary of State. They would then go the legislature to be voted on without needing Governor Snyder's approval.

"Working as a team, we have surpassed our goal and we are preparing to submit our petitions to the Secretary of State," Weiser said.

If Speaker Cotter and Senate Majority Leader Meekhof decided not to vote on the repeal, it would go to the people of Michigan in November of 2016.

Weiser, who is also a large donor to Republicans nationwide, has helped lead prevailing wage repeal efforts along with Assoc. Builders and Contractors, State Rep. Gary Glenn, and many grassroots leaders and activists across the state.

Weiser  requests signatures be sent to ABC by this Thursday, so it seems they will be submitted next week or soon after...

Here is Weiser's full statement:

"Fellow Conservative,

It's time. We need you to send us your petitions TODAY. It doesn't matter if you have 1, 10 or 100 signatures. We need you to mail them today.

Throughout the state, activists like yourself have been working non-stop to collect over 350,000 signatures on petitions to repeal Michigan's Prevailing Wage. Working as a team, we have surpassed our goal and we are preparing to submit our petitions to the Secretary of State. We know that the Labor bosses and their allies in the Democratic Party will challenge every single signature in an attempt to stifle the Democratic process and silence hundreds of thousands of Michigan voters.

In order to fight this and make sure that all the petitions that have been collected get counted, we need everyone who has a petition out to send them in today, even if they are not completely filled. Petitions can be sent directly to the Associated Builders and Contractor, c/o Breanna Cope, 230 N Washington Square # 202, Lansing, MI 48933. We would like to have all of the petitions in hand by Thursday, August 27.
As always, I know that we could not have accomplished this monumental task without your hard work and dedication. Thank you for your work to improve the lives of all Michiganders. Over the next few weeks, I will keep you updated on what our next steps are and what you can do to help."
